The CORE Philly Scholarship Application will be accessible from this site on April 1, 2008 through June 1, 2008 and on FAFSA Completion Days.  For a list of these dates click here (the attached document is an Adobe Acrobat file.  You can download Adobe Acrobat software free by clicking here). Proof of Residency may be submitted after the June 1st application deadline.

Before starting a CORE Philly Application a potential applicant must:

  1. Be a Philadelphia resident graduating high school in 2008 from
    • a Philadelphia public or charter high school (proof of residency is not necessary) or
    • a parochial or private high school and be a Philadelphia resident (the applicant and one parent will need to to provide one item from the proof of residency click here)
  2. Have a working email account (CORE Philly communicates primarily by email.)
  3. Complete a 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  4. Apply to one of the CORE Philly affiliated colleges or universities (click here to see the list of colleges and universities)

To start a CORE Philly Scholarship Application please click here.  (Please note, you will be able to officially access the application between April 1, 2008 and June 1, 2008 and on FAFSA Completion Workshop days prior to April 1st.)

Forwarding Proofing of Residency

If you have already completed a CORE Philly Scholarship application and still need to complete the Proof of Residency requirements, please send the applicant's Philadelphia Proof of Residency, along with the Philadelphia Proof of Residency for one parent to:

Proof of Residency can also be faxed to (215) 472-2440.
In all cases please be sure to put the applicant’s name and Social Security Number on both the applicant’s and parent’s Proof of Residency.

All applicants will receive an initial email letter from CORE Philly notifying them CORE Philly received the application.  If the applicant does not receive the notification, email CORE Philly at scholarship@corephilly.org.  Applications will be reviewed starting June 1, 2008.  Notification of awards will begin after June 15, 2008 or upon completion of all application information as required by CORE Philly.
